Hi everyone! We are Joel and Suzy Kelly, the owners of The Bear Necessities Coffee and Cafe. We have two amazing kids, August and Cole. Our home has not always been Dahlonega, as we moved from Richmond, Virginia in the spring of 2022. When we aren't running this crazy place we love playing with our three Newfoundlands, hiking, and just exploring all things Dahlonega.

Our Story
This whole idea started while Joel and I were on our weekly date night back in November 2022. We both wanted to create a home-like coffee café where the community and visitors could visit and connect, so we got to work and brought our dream to reality! The bear theme is in honor of my dad, who had such a love for all things bear-related. It was a rocky road, but after about a year of hard work, we finally opened in August of 2023. Joel and I are so excited to see where this journey takes us!
