Our Story
Bear Necessities Café, opened in August 2023 by Joel and Suzy Kelly in Dahlonega, Georgia, is a cozy, bear-themed coffee shop just minutes from downtown. Inspired by Suzy’s dad and their love of mountain life, the café blends warm hospitality with quality coffee from a local roaster and fresh, house-made breakfast and lunch offerings.
With a focus on breakfast and lunch comfort dishes like avocado toast, frittatas, and house-made breakfast sandwiches, Bear Necessities delivers flavor and freshness in every bite. Whether you're stopping by for a coffee flight or lunch, Joel and Suzy’s welcoming team ensures friendly service in a setting that truly feels like a second home. Bear Necessities is more than a coffee shop—it’s a thriving community hub started by two passionate owners, offering hospitality, quality, and a cozy place to connect in the heart of Dahlonega.

Here at The Bear, we offer many different seating options so that you can choose your own experience!
For something a little more private, you can choose our Conference Room or Cigar Room. They are great for meetings and catching up in a quieter atmosphere.
Of course, there's our main dining room, which then leads into our "No Music Zone" - the only spot in the restaurant that does not play music over our speakers. Great for studying!
Our cozy living room contains a couch, two love seats, a fireplace, and a full bookshelf for all your reading needs.
We also offer a few tables outside for those that have furry friends or just prefer some fresh air!
